My partner and I travelled to the area from Leicester to visit we drove by the Crown and thought it looked really good. The service we received was absolutely amazing and the pork Sunday dinner was great! Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
This is more a food review as we didn't stay at the hotel, we just popped in for dinner. Food was fantastic, soup of the day (French Onion soup) was amazing in comparison to what we have had before. Tempura Prawns were also a delight. My wife had pie of the day (Steak and Ale) and she said its the nicest one she's had. I have to agree when I finished her left overs. I had chicken supreme and that was also very good. The building was stunning, grounds very nice and the staff were extremely friendly. I would recommend the food for sure and we would also look to return and stay there.
Fantastic stay at The Crown at Shipton. The location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds, the decoration is exquisite, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly kind and approachable, making us feel at home from the very beginning. They truly take care of every detail. Highly recommended — a wonderful experience overall!
One of, if not the best roast we have ever had. Fit us in last minute, incredibly welcoming to us and our two dogs. 3 courses were faultless, food came out quickly and everything tasted fantastic. 100% will be back!
We visited The Crown at Shipton on Friday evening and received the most amazing welcome from Andy, Anne Marie and their son Ollie. From the moment we arrived the atmosphere was warm and friendly, with log fires burning and a fantastic choice of drinks behind the bar. We were also greeted by Bertie, the beautiful black lab, who added even more charm to the place. The food was absolutely excellent. Lisa had the beef bourguignon and I had the fish and chips – both were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to return again on the Saturday… and once again we were not disappointed. The building itself is full of character, with over 500 years of history and even a royal connection, which makes the whole experience even more special. Great food, great atmosphere and wonderful hospitality. We had a excellent lunch with friends at The Crown. This was our first visit. The set lunch menu offered a lot of choice. Exceptional quality at a great price. We will certainly recommend and return.
This hotel just oozes historical charm from the moment you enter from the front or via the car park and courtyard at the rear. The building is just amazing with its quirky design features and it was a treasure to behold. We had a coffee in the courtyard on arrival and the resident doves kept us company. The owner gave us a brief history of the building and we.booked dinner for the evening. The bar area is full of antiquities and is has a well stock gin and whiskey selection. The food was really nice in the evening and the breakfast, although small, was adequate and decent quality. The room was small but perfectly acceptable and we had views over the courtyard and were treated to the gentle sounds of the doves which doesn't affect you in any way. We stayed here as a base for trip to Jeremy Clarkson's Farmers Dog pub and a bit of Cotswold sight seeing and it was perfect for our needs. Highly recommended indeed, you won't be disappointed
Stayed for 3 nights in 'the pump room'. Room was super big, cosy and clean. Service was outstanding, staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was top notch. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.
